Honey Caramel Roasted Pears
In this recipe a thick, glossy, buttery caramel forms under the pears, which makes them extra delicious. Serve with ice cream, custard or on yoghurt or porridge.
Feel free to experiment with different spices – try cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice or clove.

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F/Gas mark 4).
Step 2
Halve the pears, cut out the cores and cut the pear halves into long wedges.
Step 3
Place the pear wedges in a small baking dish so they fit snugly. Add the butter, honey, orange zest, and nutmeg, and toss to coat the pears evenly.
Step 4
Bake for 25 minutes, shaking the dish every now and then, until a caramel has formed on the bottom of the dish and the pears are soft and golden.
