XO Sauce With Scallop
Description
XO sauce with scallop is a spicy seafood sauce originally from Hong Kong. Unlike many other brands, Way On’s XO sauce actually contains scallop giving it a richer flavour. The umami-packed flavours of dried scallops work beautifully served alongside tofu or stirred through a bowl of noodles. Or serve with pan-fried scallops on a bed of stir-fried Chinese broccoli and cabbage.
Despite not containing any cognac, XO sauce was named after XO or extra-old cognac which was very popular in Hong Kong in the 1980s when the sauce was first developed. XO was chosen as a name because of its association with high-quality and prestige.
Ingredients: Rapeseed oil, garlic, fried shallots, dried scallops (12%), pork fat, chilli, gammon ham (pork, salt, sugar, preservative E250, E251, acidity regulator E500, antioxidant E301), sugar, dried shrimps, sesame oil. Contains mollusc, crustacean, sesame.

This Pixian Chilli Bean Paste is from Pixian in China's Sichuan province, famed for its chilli bean pastes. Sichuan chilli bean paste is a regional ingredient, used in Western China’s traditionally tongue-tinglingly, spicy dishes such as mapo dofu or fish fragrant aubergines. This delicious chilli paste makes a great condiment alone with plain rice, is lovely when stirred into noodle broths, and can be used to spice up and enrich a variety of different sauces. This douban jiang or chilli bean paste is a rich brown colour with a relatively smooth, blended texture. If you prefer your Pixian chilli bean paste with a more intense red colour and chunkier chilli pieces, we also have Pixian Chilli Bean Paste 1kg from the same producer in Pixian, however, that does contain monosodium glutamate and preservatives. Both are extremely spicy! Ingredients: chilli, broad beans, salt, wheat flour | Cookies so delicious you'll go "What the Frac!".
