Sweet Fermented Sauce
Sweet fermented sauce is called several different things – hoisin sauce or sweet bean sauce – and is made from soy beans and is most famously known as ‘Chinese barbecue sauce’. The sweet fermented sauce makes a great glaze for pork or duck dishes. In Chinese it is called tian mian jiang.
Sweet fermented sauce can also be used as a dipping sauce with spring rolls and crispy duck pancakes, or to bring sweet, complex flavours to stir fries.
