Stockyard Smoky Mustard BBQ Sauce
Stockyard smoky mustard BBQ sauce is a treat with low ‘n’ slow cooked beef brisket. The sweet sauce packs a kick from yellow and wholegrain mustard, while a hint of hickory smoke adds depth. Use to baste a pork shoulder part way through cooking, or as a dip for chargrilled chicken wings.
Stockyard’s smoky mustard sauce is inspired by the stockyards of South Carolina. In the 1800s, German immigrants to the region introduced their version of a BBQ sauce. It didn’t use tomatoes, but was packed with German mustard. The locals loved it, and mustard BBQ sauce has been a staple of South Carolina BBQ culture ever since.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, stockyards were at the centre of America’s premium meat trade. American Stockyard’s small batch barbecue sauces and condiments aim to capture some of the nostalgia of the time, when all-natural ingredients reigned, and good meals were social occasions full of relaxed chatter and easy laughter. Each sauce is carefully crafted to reflect the unique regional flavours of historic stockyards across America.
