Mulling Spices – Spice Extract Spice Drops
Description
Mulled wine spice drops are highly concentrated spice extracts – made with the ideal ‘mulling’ blend: orange, nutmeg, clove, fennel, vanilla, cinnamon, and ginger. Add Holy Lama mulled wine spice droplets to any dish or drink for an instant hit of Christmassy flavour. And unlike many dry spices, the spice drops can be added at the end of cooking to adjust the final flavour of a dish. Alternatively use in a spray atomiser for fabulous aromas.
“Spice Drops are a super innovation. I love that ‘just picked’ taste and the way you can mix and blend without any of the traditional prep involved such as grinding or scraping. It gives me more time to play around with spice flavours. There will always be a place in my kitchen for fresh spices – but there’s also space for these drops, too.” Antony Worrall Thompson, MOGB
How are spice drops made?
The finest Indian spices are selected and then cold-pressed, to keep the best flavour. The crushed spices are passed through a number of processes to finally extract the oleoresin (oil + resin), which is highly concentrated – the ‘essence’ of the spice. Finally this spice essence is finally mixed with a natural emulsifier to make it easy to portion and use in the kitchen.
Why Holy Lama?
Holy Lama is a family business and has been working with spices for over seventy years. They are a member of the British Fair Trade Association. Their production facility has been set up as a Government recognised women’s enterprise, which employs, supports and empowers marginalised women in the local community, in Kerala.
Ingredients: Orange oil, nutmeg extract, clove bud extract, fennel seed extract, vanilla extract, cinnamon extract, ginger extract and emulsifier – polysorbate 80.

| Sun Brand Major Grey mango chutney is a sweet, sour and spicy condiment that’s the perfect match for Indian curries. It’s also a great dip for grilled chicken skewers. The chutney is made by macerating whole mangoes in vinegar and spices for several weeks. This mixture is then cooked down into a thick chutney. Sun Brand Major Grey mango chutney is fruity with medium chilli heat, and is the most popular mango chutney from Sun Brand. The true story behind the name of Major Grey mango chutney is unfortunately lost to history. The popular theory is that it’s named after a British Army Major who was stationed in India when the Merwanjee Poonjiajee & Sons company was founded in the 19th century. A hot mango chutney and a mild mango chutney from Sun Brand are also available. Sun Brand is made by Merwanjee Poonjiajee & Sons, who have been making chutney and curry in Bombay (now called Mumbai) since 1876. These chutneys and curry powders were such high quality that they were among the first of their kind to be exported from India. Sun Brand products are still made using traditional recipes that have been handed down in the Merwanjee and Poonjiajee families for generations. Ingredients: sugar, mangoes, vinegar, raisins, spices, chillies, garlic. |
