Fileja is a typical Calabrian pasta, in particular from the province of Vibo Valentia, which has its origins in traditional peasant cuisine. It is a poor peasant dish made with two simple ingredients: water and flour. The characteristic feature of this pasta is its elongated shape made by hand with the help of a ferretto. It is from this particular spinning that the name ‘Fileja’ derives. One of the most popular Calabrian recipes to make with this pasta format is Fileja with Nduja and Tropea Red Onion. Mangiarrìa’s Fileja is produced in Calabria using 100% Italian durum wheat semolina. The pasta is then dried slowly at a low temperature to ensure its unique taste and excellent hold during cooking. Mangiarrìa Passione Calabrese is a fledgling brand synonymous with excellent food products typical of the Calabrian territory, such as the typical pastas of this region.
